DAMENCHOR NEWS

Sylvia Cook, President

The Damenchor spent the summer working on music for the National Saengerfest to be held in Evansville, Indiana, next spring. We had six rehearsals and learned most of the pieces for women’s voices and also worked on some mixed choir pieces. Most members participated in the rehearsals. We expect to use the music throughout the upcoming year.

The Damenchor had its annual summer picnic on July 16th at the home of Christa and Roger Rabago. We had a good turnout and, in spite of the heat, we had a good time.

We are looking forward to starting our regular rehearsals. The focus of the fall rehearsals will be the annual Damenchor Christmas concert to be held on December 3rd.

Planning for the 2009 Saengerfest continues. The Damenchor will host the Saengerfest in Austin May 2nd and 3rd, 2009. This will commemorate the Damenchor’s 50th anniversary.

Officers for the year are Sylvia Cook, president; Joanne Kunde, vice president; Gerlinde Sehne, secretary; Niki Sanders, treasurer. Velma Holck will replace Maly Hatheway as music librarian. We appreciate Maly’s dedication and hard work for the past year.
