Faces of Blackland

The Blackland Neighborhood Center is a vital resource that serves many neighborhoods in East Austin with a food pantry, a monthly Fresh Food for Families day, a nurse, and classes. It also hosts cultural activities, such as the annual Juneteenth celebration and a quilting club.

Houses in Blackland range from the neo-Viking to the ultra-modern. Mostly, though, we just really like front porches. (Thanks to Patrick Wong for photo of 2109 E. 22nd St.)

Blackland has been proud to partner with the Sustainable Foods Center to put in gardens at Robert Shaw Village. Water cisterns at the Solar Duplex will provide water for the raised garden beds there.
