CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA

 

April 27 & 28, 2002

 

 

 

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2002 C22 Region 8 Championship Regatta hosted by Fleet 69 and the Austin Yacht Club on beautiful Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.

 

DATE:    Saturday April 27 and Sunday April 28, 2002.

 

CLASSES:   C22 Genoa Gold and Silver Fleets, a minimum of five boats will constitute a fleet.

 

NUMBER OF RACES:  Five (5) weather permitting, 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.  The race committee at their discretion can run up to 4 races on Saturday.  One race constitutes a regatta.

 

ELIGIBILITY: This regatta is open to all owners of Catalina 22's who are members in good standing of the Catalina 22 National Association and whose boats maintain a
valid measurement certificate. The fleet measurer will be available to measure yachts Friday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

 

SCORING: The Low Point Scoring System described in Appendix A of the current

Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), except as modified by the sailing instructions, and will be used.

 

ENTRY FEES:

 

Registration:                  $60.00

US Sailing:                    ($5.00)

Pre-registration:            ($10.00) (before April 24th)

Dinner:             $??.?? Per person

Raffle:                           1 per registrant ($1.00 extra chances)

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

 

Discounted pre-registration will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24th.  The registration form may faxed, mailed, or e-mailed to the AYC office.  See the AYC website at www.austinyachtclub.org for the e-mail registration form.

 

Saturday, April 27

 

9:00 a.m.          On-site   registration opens.

                                                Breakfast Snacks

 

                        10:00 a.m.        Registration closes.

 

10:30 a.m.        Skippers' meeting

                                                (skippers must be registered before skippers' meeting).

 

                        11:30 a.m.        Warning signal for race 1.

                                                Race 2 immediately following race 1.

                                                Race 3 immediately following race 2.

 

After races:       Complimentary beverages and dinner

 

Sunday, April 28

 

                        10:00 p.m.        Warning signal for race 4.

                                                Race 5 immediately following race 4.

 

After races:       Complimentary beverages, burgers and awards

 

 

RULES AND EQUIPMENT:

 

This regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing for 2001-2004 (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States  Sailing Association  (US SAILING), the rules of the Catalina 22 National Association (except as any  of these are altered by the regatta sailing instructions), and by  the regatta sailing instructions. Sailing instructions will be available during registration.  Registration will not be accepted for boats without numbers on their mainsails.

 

TROPHIES:

 

Prizes will be awarded within each fleet as follows:

 

Gold Fleet:       First, Second, Third, and Fourth

Silver Fleet:      First

 

FACILITIES:     There are limited campsites available on the AYC grounds.  Showers and restrooms are available to all regatta participants and guests.  Some cabins and screened shelters are available for rent. Please contact the AYC office at 266-1336 for cabin rentals.   Pets and fireworks are strictly prohibited on AYC grounds.
