III. Institutional Framework

1. Identity and Nature

The Evangelical Committee for Service and Support - Maya Quiche (CESSMAQ) is the Committee of Christian Service of the Maya Quiche Presbytery, Presbyterians and indigenous Maya Quiche, which sustain our identity.

Our nature is essentially clerical, of service and help, non-political, of private character, educational, that promotes and supports integral human development, indigenous community and clergy, faith based, doctrine, community focused, without discrimination, committed to service and construction of the kingdom of God.

2. Vision

Communities, families, men, women, youth and children, living in complete communion and relationship with God. And living together in love, peace, justice and nourishment, in a creation (nature) re-established in harmony.

3. Mission

  • Proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by way of Service and the good deeds to the most needy.
  • Proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God to all oppressed men, discriminated and marginalized. CESSMAQ will provide resources for the liberation of all sectors of the population that experience alienation and signs of death. (2 Corinthians 9:8-13 And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work. As it is written, "He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever." He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your resources and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God; for the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God. Under the test of this service, you will glorify God by your obedience in acknowledging the gospel of Christ, and by the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others.)
  • In a divided society, alienated, where the signs of death prevail, CESSMAQ is a resource and responds to the needs of the people so that they can achieve the greatest commandments. "The first is 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31).
  • Promote coordination and harmony between man and all the creation of God, to avoid catastrophic damage to the environment, which is now very deteriorated.

4. General Objectives

  • Dignify the life of men, women, youth and children, by way of kindness, values and the good news of the Kingdom of God.
  • Promote self-development of the communities by way of active and conscious participation in the programs where CESSMAQ works, so that they will have a dignified life as children of God.
