In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being in him is life, and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
And the Word became flesh and lived among us...full of grace and truth. John 1:1-5, 14I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:3-6 The Presbyterian Church (USA) is in mission with church partners in over 80 countries around the world. The Presbyterian presence and connection in Guatemala makes up but a few threads in the larger tapestry of the worldwide mission of Jesus Christ, and occupies only one small corner of the vineyard where faithful saints live and work and worship. Yet each year through PRESGOV (Presbyterian Groups, Obreros fraternales [mission workers] and Volunteers) - the branch of the National Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Guatemala (IENPG) that receives and facilitates visiting groups and delegations from U.S. congregations and presbyteries - over 200 U.S. Presbyterians are blessed and challenged with spending a week to ten days in community and partnership with their brothers and sisters in Guatemala. |
