Mission - Maya Quiche Presbyteries
February 2002. Isabel Gomez Lopez, of La Cumbre
en espaņol
When CESSMAQ came to La Cumbre, Isabel was one of the first women to receive a loan to purchase a pig and learn how to raise it for breeding purposes. She was able to repay her loan within a year. She managed to support herself by raising pigs and selling them. CESSMAQ also sent her to the Instituto Biblico Presbyteriano Quiche to learn Spanish and other important life skills. Hermano Noe Sam, Executive Director of CESSMAQ, brought a six-month Bible study, which she attended. She has great faith in God and praises Him for helping her endure all her hardships.

Mayan woman in white blouse with blue embroidered collar and sleeves. At the age of twenty-nine, a friend gave Isabel a three month old baby girl. Her daughter, Lydia Gomez Lopez is now six years old. She praised God for the beautiful gift of life He had given her. Isabel said her friend saw what a responsible person she was and didn't want her to be totally alone in life.

On February 26, 2002, a group from Mission Presbytery fitted Isabel for reading glasses. She was able to see again. She praised God and gave Him all the glory for all the blessings she had received. She was so elated because now she would be able to return to making huipiles and increase her small income. This would help in raising her little daughter. She appreciated all the work and help CESSMAQ has provided her. Through all of Isabel's trials and tribulations, she has continued to have faith in God.
