Manuel Cax Tambriz
en espaņol

Manuel Cax Tambriz, treasurer of the development committee of Chuisajcava, Guatemala. While his first language is Quiche, he spoke in Spanish to describe the projects the village is accomplishing:

I'd like to explain that before the arrival of CESSMAQ, we, here, were an abandoned community. We didn't know what an organization was. But thanks to CESSMAQ, they arrived here in our village and provided training. Then we formed a group that became a committee for the development of our community.

Now CESSMAQ has given us a literacy project. Now our adults can read and write. Then, we reflected some more and saw the need to organize some more and we achieved the program to construct a school. Here in the school in Chuisajcava, there are 102 children attending kindergarten through sixth grade.

Guatemalan schoolchildren gather around a visitor from the US.Some of the students introduce themselves to visitors from the US:

  • My name is Manuel. I like to write. I like to read and speak.
  • My name is Francisco. I like school. I want to learn. I want to write and I want to play.
  • My name is Manuela and I am on the coordinating committee for the school.
