Great attendance for the start of 2009. Attending were Chris, Charlie, Sergei, Keith, Mark, and (not shown) George. There was possiblity that Alex would show up, but I guess family matters took precedent.

George kept his New Years Resolution going by coming straight from work on his recumbent (meaning he gets to cross Burnet 2 times). His goal is to put more miles on the recumbent than on the Nissan. To celebrate the new year he ordered a Savage, small, deep dish, white with all the trimmings. He also passed around the Amiga Future Nr. 76 which was filled with news and reviews. It reviewed Amiga OS4.1 for those who missed last October's meeting when George brought his entire setup just to show all of that off. The new magazine issue details the latest hardware for running that OS, the SAM 440. Lastly, the fascinating history of the Amiga for the year 2000 in an article. That one year took 4 pages to detail.

Everybody had something to say about tomorrow's Presidential Inauguration. Seems like everyone knew someone who was attending in one way or another.

Talk started with quizzing Mark about fatherdom. WooYoung wants Jenny to try violin (the kid is not yet 6 months old...) and Mark just wants her to sleep through the night! We discussed WooYoung's decision to put her academic efforts on hold while providing the intense care babies require. She is an "All But Dissertation" with some extenuating circumstances. Strategies were bandied about.

George badgered Mark about what were issues surrounding "owning your own source code". Where does one draw the line in securing source code? Nothing was resolved other than, "Get all of it you can".

Chris said that he starts an ACC class that will consume his M-W-F evenings for just about the whole of this year, so this is his last CTACS meeting for awhile. Charlie is using his new space of time created by reduction in parenting to get closer to Austin Theater. He landed a job putting together the set for a downtown space production. More about that next month.

George quizzed Sergei about life at A&M and his immediate plans. Keith, who passed up an inaugural shendig to attend CTACS, was anxious to to get home and get ready for his IRS job at 11pm, so we all split. George was amazed that he finished the Savage and 2 beers. That biking stuff will put an appetite on you (I guess).
