CTACS General meeting for August 21, 2014

We had the darker area, upstairs near the steps (all 4 of them) on the usual east side of Conan's. That was for more of a challenge for my Panasonic DMC-LZ7, but I think it did OK, no?

We had Chris Boas, Carol Wyche, Paul Norrod, Charlie Boas, and George Wyche under the camera.

I had intended to push for having this meeting at the Blanton art gallery, but totally forgot that until I realized Kathleen Boas wasn't attending. It was to be our "summer camp"... something completely different! Oh well, the gallery's lure of wine and a slice of pizza for $5 is not a sufficient lure... "We got that here!". Charlie allowed as that was just as well, else he would have attended his Church group, "the Luthern Brewtherhood", at a suitable, local establishment... That meeting date is variable, but was this very evening. "It's OK", said our Prez, "I don't drink anyway". Carol chimed in, "Yes... just as well, their pizza wouldn't be something I would choose to eat, since I'm gluten free... I would have opted to stay home." Chris, just smiled (he smiles a lot), and said, "I'll just have to enjoy this Conan's Savage, instead."

So we didn't feel all that deprived.

Mark's absence was explained by Paul. Mark is attending a "low level programming techniques" course out of town.

Carol brought up to "GIS Specialist" Charlie (with the City of Austin) that, the upcoming 10-1 city council elections has brought to light that the Wyche's are apparently camping out at 30o 18' 27"|-97o 43' 43" since the Austin derived database lists "no structures" for us.

We were treated to a travelogue + gorgeous pictures of Paul's family's recent 2 weeks in the area from Portland, OR, north a short ways into Washington and down to red woods in norhern California. I am so glad I pressed for an account. The Wyche's spent the best one year (working) vacation based in Eugene, OR back in ('ought) 1980 and a short 1990's trip to Portland that gave us our multiple joke trip to "see" Mt. Ranier. We saw about 400 square feet at any one time! So many memories triggered thanks to Paul. Charlie and family overlapped that area a couple of years ago so they got to recall shared experiences, too.

I asked about if anybody had any "Dilbert stories" at work this week. Now, that started a story by each of those present (excepting Carol) that took us all the way to 8pm

Meeting adjourned!
