Austin, Texas, USA - The big news this month is the success of our September Membership Drive and Car Show. What a great job Greg Herbert did in planning this event. If we’d had any idea it was going to turn out so good, we would surely have kept records for statistics. I am guessing we had75 cars and they were all very nice ones. Charles Shierlow cooked five briskets which he estimated would feed 100 people. Greg brought a ton of sausage (his count), along with potato salad, beans, pickles, onions, bread, lemonade, and some cookies. Jan Donnell brought iced tea, water, cookies, and cake. Forgive me, but I don’t know who else brought desserts but there were several. Thank you. We fed a lot of people because there wasn’t anything left. And the really good news is, Jay Burks reports that we have fifteen paid up new members with about that many more taking applications with them. Fifteen new members represents a 25% increase in our rolls. That is great and certainly worth the effort in planning and participation.
