MoNAC POSITION
MoNAC works toward improving and maintaining the overall quality of the neighborhoods adjacent to MoPac (Loop 1).
CURRENT ACTION
CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization) 2030 Mobility Plan has approved the following for the MoPAC corridor from Town Lake to FM 2222:
Evaluate extension of managed lanes to central business district. TxDOT will coordinate with city, county and neighborhoods to minimize impacts. Construction of managed lanes will take place within existing corridor right of way and will be at or below grade. Project will include construction of noise walls and will provide adequate space for future ASARD commuter rail operation.
MoNAC neighborhoods are organized to work width TxDOT during evaluation and development of the MoPAC corridor.

Background information on MoPAC issues that apply to our neighborhood such as managed lanes and sound wall plans are provided in the following document by Sid Covington. The sound wall issue appears to becoming this spring as test sound walls with various finishes are build at the TxDOT Bull Creek facility (MoPAC/Camp Hubbard side north of 35th/Camp Mabry is on opposite side of MoPAC). Input from the community is part of the evaluation process. |
