MoNAC meetings are held quarterly to discuss issues affecting residents living close to MoPAC (Loop 1). Contact one of the listed MoNAC officers for more information.

MoNAC works toward improving and maintaining the overall quality of the neighborhoods adjacent to MoPac (Loop 1).

Evaluate extension of managed lanes to central business district. TxDOT will coordinate with city, county and neighborhoods to minimize impacts. Construction of managed lanes will take place within existing corridor right of way and will be at or below grade. Project will include construction of noise walls and will provide adequate space for future ASARD commuter rail operation.

MoNAC neighborhoods are organized to work width TxDOT during evaluation and development of the MoPAC corridor.

Background information on MoPAC issues that apply to our neighborhood such as managed lanes and sound wall plans are provided in the following document by Sid Covington. The sound wall issue appears to becoming this spring as test sound walls with various finishes are build at the TxDOT Bull Creek facility (MoPAC/Camp Hubbard side north of 35th/Camp Mabry is on opposite side of MoPAC). Input from the community is part of the evaluation process.

Sample sound walls planned for MoPac should be available for viewing in the spring 2007 timeframe.

The sample sound walls will demonstrate aesthetics, not noise reduction capability.

The sample sound walls will be located on the TxDOT Bull Creek Campus.

Three styles of sample sound walls will be built, varying between 10 ft to 18 ft.

An Aesthetic Advisory Committee will be formed to gather input from the community.

Neighbors along MoPAC have received permission letters for the sound wall study
(if you received one of these letters please respond to DMJM Harris representatives
if you have not already done so).

13 Neighborhood Noise Workshops will be held for communications. There may be paired with the 13 MoNAC participants.

Noise reading are planned for about 40 backyards starting in the late April timeframe.

The selected style of sound walls would be placed where appropriate along MoPAC as determined by the
noise study results and property owner input.

Owners of both business and residential property that backs up to MoPAC will be able to vote on accepting
a sound wall on their property.

Note - Sound walls are not officially approved - they still need to be justified. Sound walls will only by added to
TxDOT if there is additional capacity on MoPAC.
