Proposed Amendments to JJSNA Constitution:
Reviewed at the Thursday, 3/8/04 JJSNA meeting

A. Pg. 2, bottom: "Article V - Meetings"

• Sect A: Add the text, "Alternate meeting dates or schedules may be
agreed upon by a majority vote of members present at a regularly scheduled
meeting."

B. Pg. 3, "Article VI - Officers"

• Add new Sect. F: "In the event that the Assn. lacks one or more
officers for any period of time, the Assn. may continue its accustomed
activities until such time as new officers have been elected. When lacking
a president and vice-president, an Assn. member shall call each meeting to
order, and upon a motion and a second to that motion, a chairperson may be
designated for that meeting."

C. Page 5: "Political"

• Add new Sect. D: "A designated Assn. officer or member may represent
(in speech or writing) positions taken by the Assn. on zoning cases,
variances, City Council ordinances, and similar issues of public policy.
The position(s) must be agreed upon by a majority vote of members present at
a regularly scheduled meeting or a special meeting, provided that adequate
notice to members has been provided in accordance with Article V Sect. C.
If a meeting is not possible, it will suffice for the president to contact
officers by telephone to gather votes on the issue. On issues for which no
Assn. position has been taken, individual members may offer their positions
at a public hearing or in writing, but must clarify that no Assn. position
has been taken. "

Article VI, Sect. D, p. 4

• Change first sentence to read, "All officers shall serve terms of at
least 1 year and not to exceed 2 years."

JJSNA Progress - what we've done recently:
* visit our new website and give constructive feedback http://www.main.org/jjsna
* 3511 manor Road property is looking better. with several years of zoning code violations, the
wrecker service finally moved out
special thanks to persistent efforts of neighbors and enforcement acheived through the City
of Austin Neighborhood Planning and Zoning Department
* St.James Missionary Baptist Chuch (on MLK & Greenwood) has sought a variance to build higher
than current zoning allows. Per discussions among church, MLKNA, JJSNA, we will not oppose this
request. however, we will work proactively on future development issues, ensuring this is not a
precendent for taller heights elsewhere in the neighborhood
