WHO WE ARE

The Lake Travis Community Computer Lab (LTCCL) provides free computer and internet facilities to everyone. Our goal is to provide free internet access to the Lake Travis Community, including low income, disabled and senior citizens. Our computers are available for many services, including internet usage, homework (class assignment retrieval), job searches, email, resumes, etc. Our computers are enhanced for the visually and hearing impaired as well as for seniors. We have screen magnification, JAWS (for the hearing impaired), and a Kensington Expert Mouse for seniors with arthritis.
HISTORY

The Lake Travis Community Computer Lab opened it's doors on July 8, 2003. We opened our doors with 4 computer workstations and we are proud to say that we now have eight. Since opening, we have been selected to participate in the IBM sponsored Web Adaptation Technology Project. Also, we received 2 computers and an upgraded version of JAWS software from Knowbility, Inc. as a result of a presentation given by Sandra Williams, to the Austin Free-Net Collaborative Board on November 13, 2003.

As of October 9, 2004 we are the ONLY FREE wireless hotspot in the Lake Travis area.
WE WANT TO SEE YOU  Home

Also feel free to tell everyone to stop by our space to find out about the lab, our new web site, our future plans or just to chat about what's new on the web!! We will also be accepting donations of paper, printer cartridges or anything that you feel we can use in the lab. Now that school has begun the children are in need of homework aids so if you have any study aids that your children have outgrown, please feel free to donate them to our library!

CLASSES Home

Beginning July 14, 2004 classes will be held the second Wednesday of every month from 10am to 12pm. Initially we will be offering Introduction to the Internet and Introduction to Microsoft Word. There will be a non-refundable $5.00 registration fee for each course.

We now have access to an eight part class "Job Skills For Your Dream Job" . This course is designed for job seekers. Learn how to use the internet for job searches, create a winning resume, practice interviewing and other important skills, and create and utilize your own personal email address to assist you in your job search. Registration fees will be $5.00 per session as always. If you are interested in taking this course or know someone who might be in need of these service please have them contact the Lab.

As a result of our La Familia Technology Week program we have been asked to add an English as a Second Language (ESL) class as well as possibly a class on English terms to help you survive at your worksite. We will be preparing a SURVEY to access interest and begin a search for SPONSORS. If you would like to assist on this project, or want additional information on this project, please drop by, email us or send us a note of interest.

Remember that you may purchase Gift Certificates for any of our classes and with the Holiday's right around the corner, this could be one of the most meaningful gifts you could give to a friend in need of guidance but too proud to ask!

To register, please select the WORD Word Application or the PDF PDF Application application.
