Dear Voter,
This VOTERS GUIDE is prepared for you as part of the Leagues effort to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of all citizens in their government. We hope you study it, share it, and above all, use it to make your choices and VOTE on Tuesday, March 14, 2000.
This is a Primary Election, which means you must make a choice as to which partys primary you will vote in. Furthermore, after the polls close, a precinct party convention will be held for each party in each precinct. The location of the precinct convention should be posted where you vote. The precinct convention provides you the opportunity to influence the party platform as resolutions will be presented (you may want to present one of your own), discussed, and voted on. Resolutions which are passed will be considered at the next level and will continue to the state level if they are passed all the way up the line.
Early voting will be from Monday, February 28 through Friday, March 10. For the sake of the city, county, state, nation and for your sake VOTE on March 14, 2000. Democracy works best when you VOTE!
Maxine Barkan, President
League of Women Voters -- Austin Area
