Saturday May 26, 2012 -- Flag Day at Mahomet

The Flag Ceremony began at 10:30 A.M. We had ideal weather for the event this year. Harold Hunt gave the invocation. Ron Johnson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Barbara (Williams) Drosche led the singing of America. Glynda (Williams) Noland shared the importance and meaning of the event, then read the name of each veteran buried in the Mahomet Cemetery. As the name was read an American flag was given to a family member or friend. Eldon Williams, Chairman of the Mahomet Cemetery Board, announced he would be stepping down after 20 years of service. He received a round of applause for a job well done. Families were then asked to share information about any family member that is currently serving our country.

Barbara and Glynda led the singing of Amazing Grace. A family member then placed an American flag in the flag holder on each veteran's grave.
