Merlen Howe, Fred Lord, Martha Pyle The meeting was called to order at 1230 hrs. by Chairman Leon Holland MINUTES were approved as submitted OLD BUSINESS A. Comments on committee material as presented at the May dinner meeting -
all agreed that the information was excellent and comprehensive. Leon will bring
all the materials again to the September dinner meeting for distribution to
members. B Useful telephone number list - we are still checking with the Service Reps.
to be sure all numbers are accurate and current before printing the list in the
monthly newsletter. C Leon Holland passed around a copy of the Survivors Information Guide for
the committee's approval. The Handbook contains: D. Status of previous suggestions 1. Fred Lord will contact the Capital Area Council on Aging to ask for
complimentary items such as refrigerator magnets to record all
medications/diseases to be used in case of an emergency. These could be made
available for chapter members. 3. Identify helpful PA-related tips or "Did You Know" for a
recurring spot in the monthly newsletter NEW BUSINESS A. Suggestion was made to put information from the Texas Funeral Commission
on our web site B. We will check into compiling a list of attorneys who are willing to help
military survivors C. Fred Lord suggested that we have paper backup on important items for those
survivors who do not use a computer D. Maurice Quigley suggested we have an estate planning attorney as a guest
speaker at one of our dinner meetings COMMITTEE MEMBERS COMMENTS A. All agreed that the committee is progressing well B. Martha Pyle commented that she has had several calls regarding Personal
Affairs issues indicating that our message is getting out C. Ernie Dean suggested that we deal carefully with a survivor's adult
