Lt.Col. Brian Smallwood was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Fairmount, Indiana.
He graduated from Madison-Grant High School in 1975. He received: two Associate
of Arts Degrees in Education from Craven Community College, a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, and a Master of Arts
Degree in Management from Salve Regina University. He enlisted the Marine Corps in
1978 and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1988. Throughout Lt.Col. Smallwood's career he was a Avionics Technician, Recruiter, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Operations Officer, Headquarters Commandant for a Joint Task Force in Djibouti Africa in 2005, an Intelligence Battalion Executive Officer, and a Headquarters Group Executive Officer. He set-up the Injured Support Section and the Injured Support Barracks at Camp Lejeune, NC in 2006, which was mirrored at Camp Pendleton, CA. He retired from the Marine Corps in September of 2006. Currently employed with Advanced Micro Devices. His Decorations and Awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one Star, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Stars, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Southwest Asia Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation (Saudi Arabia) Medal, and Kuwait Liberation (Emirite of Kuwait) Medal. He is married to Holly Handler Smallwood and they have two daughters, Riley and Avery. They reside in Austin. |
