Fred E. Lord retired from the US Regular Army as a Lieutenant Colonel on 1 February 1985 at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He served in all combat branches of the Army as an Air Defense, Armor, Infantry, and Field Artillery officer. His assignments were varied from command to high level staff. When assigned in Texas, LtCol Lord served as Professor of Military Science at West Texas State University where he worked with University and State officials to increase ROTC enrollment a hundred fold and was commissioned a Texas Citizen by Governor Clements in 1982. As an Infantry Advisor in Vietnam, LtCol Lord received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and several other decorations. His last assignment was as Weapons Division Chief. Air Defense Combat Developments, Ft. Bliss, Texas. In addition to his previous awards, LtCol Lord was awarded three Meritorious Service medals, Army Commendation Medal and numerous other decorations. After retirement from the Army, he was employed by the Boeing company as a program manager until he retired in 2000. He is married to Lynn, a native Texan, and has three sons. |
