AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES

25 APRIL 2011


PRESENT:
Charles Bush, Ernie Dean, Phillip Denney, Pat Eagan, Chuck Gaede, Bev Kelsey, Wes Lokken, Cecil Martin, Ben Meharg, Roger Rabago, Gerry Walters

The meeting was called to order by President Rabago at 1335 hrs.

Chaplain Ernie Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation

MINUTES of the March Board Meeting were approved as submitted

TREASURER'S REPORT - Bank Balance as of 31 March 2011 - $12,276.82

OLD BUSINESS

A. The completion of the revision of the Bylaws will be presented to the membership at the May dinner meeting for their approval

B. Nominating Committee Report - Wes Lokken presented the following slate of Officers for the 2011-2012 year:

President - Vacant
1st. V.P. - Chuck Gaede                     Installation of new Board will take
2nd. V.P. - Ben Meharg                     place at the June dinner meeting
3rd. V.P. - Vacant
Secretary - Pat Eagan

C. Membership - Nothing new regarding MOAA's latest membership drive


NEW BUSINESS

A. A request has been made for a memorial plaque honoring MAJ Robert Leon Tucci, son of COL Leon Tucci, deceased member of AMOAA. MAJ Tucci was killed in the Viet Nam War. The plaque would be located at a school in COL Tucci's neighborhood in Austin using the AMOAA logo. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously that we give a plaque not to exceed $300.00 in cost.
B. Social Meeting Location - President Rabago and AMOAA representatives will have a meeting with COL Jack Taliaferro in early May to discuss the feasibility of having dinner meetings at Camp Mabry next year.

OFFICERS REPORTS

1st. V.P. - Chuck Gaede commented that we need to decide about the Christmas dance/program well in advance. It was suggested that we ask members to comment on their preference. Bev Kelsey will put this request in the May newsletter.

ARMY REP. - Gerry Walters suggested that we watch the calendar for future Holiday weeks when our dinner meetings are scheduled. The April meeting - which was scheduled 4 days before Easter - was badly attended. Fred Lord will take reservations for the Army for May due to Gerry's absence at that time.

ROTC REP. - Cecil Martin reported that MOAA had changed the packaging of the gold bars given to ROTC Cadets and that there was no mention of MOAA giving them. He also commented that some schools are no longer having ROTC ceremonies.
