AMOAA BOARD MEETING
22 APRIL 2013

PRESENT: Chuck Gaede, Phil Denny, Jack Knox, Hal Hampton, Bev Kelsey, Cecil Martin, Ben Meharg, Gerry Walters, Roger Longenbach, Ernie Dean, Martha Pyle, J. Robert Howard

The meeting was called to order at 1330 Hrs. by the President Chuck Gaede.

The invocation was given by Chaplain Ernie Dean.

MINUTES: The minutes were distributed to each present. There was no correction and were approved as printed.

NEW BUSINESS:

1st VICE PRESIDENT: The speaker will be Mr. Naibi from STRATFOR, an intelligence company here in Austin.
Maurice Quigley will have the installation of Officers for the New Year.

2nd VICE PRESIDENT.: Ben Meharg will coordinate with Bill del Vecchio for next year.

3rd VICE PRESIDENT.: The meal was excellent for the April meeting. J. R. gave a summary on the changing of the location, the Ben Hur Shrine was the final choice. Cecil Martin made the recommendation that the " Ben Hur Shrine Building be chosen as the destination for the local general meetings for the year 2013-2014." Phil Denny seconded the motion. Motion carried. They have a built-in sound system, round tables, and the set up is included in the charge. They also have good parking with lighting in the parking lot.
There will be more information on the caterer at a later date.

SECRETARY: Nothing

TREASURER:  Roger reported the balance in the bank at the end of March was $8256.55, The Scholarship Fund has a total of $3615.50. The Dinner report was: attended 52, guests 2. Suggestions made
were to charge for wine and soft drinks in 2013-2014, and possibly a Scratch Off Lottery Ticket as prizes. A suggestion for the tip jar is $2.00.

USA: Jack will be out for the next 2 months

USAF: Nothing

USN/USMC/USCG/USPHS/ USNOAA: Nothing to report

NEWSLETTER: Bev reported the deadline for the Newsletter is April 28.

PERSONAL AFFAIRS: No report. Ernie Dean, Chaplain, reported he was very proud of the response and help for all of those in West, Texas, and in Boston, Mass., from the people of Austin.

MILITARY COALITION: Gerry remarked about program in Austin he had never heard of before. The program has a storage building to house furniture and other sort of household items collected to be distributed to homeless Vets. The City had just moved 7 homeless Vets into apartments and furnished them from through this program.

ROTC COORDINATOR: Cecil states that all Certificates are signed and ready to go.

WEB MASTER: He has all of the bios he had asked for in the past.

PAST PRESIDENT: Absent

The next general meeting will be on 15 May at Camp Mabry.

The next board meeting will be on 20 May at Camp Mabry.

BENEDICTION: The closing prayer was spoken by Chaplain Ernie Dean.

The meeting was adjourned at 1430 hrs. by the President.
