AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
21 APRIL 2008

PRESENT: Charles Bush, Ernie Dean, Bill Del Vecchio, Pat Eagan, Leon Holland, Joyce Hoover, Merlen Howe, Norm Jefferson, Wes Lokken, Fred Lord, John Musgrove, Verne Phillips, Roger Rabago

The meeting was called to order at 1330 hrs. by President Bill Del Vecchio

Chaplain Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation

MINUTES of the March Board Meeting were approved as submitted

TREASURER'S REPORT: Bank Balance as of 31 March 2008 - $8505.56

OLD BUSINESS

1. The letterhead stationery is just now at the printer's - the letter to potential AMOAA members should be completed by the end of this week.

2. There will be a third door prize at the dinner meetings - the military plaque made by LTC Dave Kennedy. In addition, he will have them for sale and will donate a percentage of the cost to the Patriot's Fund.

3. Scholarship Awards - Fred Lord announced that the JROTC recipients have been chosen - one cadet is going to A&M and the other to U.T. The scholarship checks are written to the Universities of choice, and we will ask for a follow-up from the schools to confirm they are enrolled. Certificates of the Scholarship Award will be given at the presentation ceremony. It was suggested we invite the recipients and their Commanders to attend our June dinner meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Possible speakers for the May and June dinner meetings - The Judge of the Probate Court was suggested for May and Jerry Patterson, Land Commissioner, for June. Verne Phillips and Fred Lord to follow up. Leon Holland will briefly discuss the Personal Affairs Committee at the May dinner meeting

OFFICERS REPORTS

2nd. V.P. - Wes Lokken suggested we put our dinner meeting dates in the Community Affairs column of the Austin American Statesman

USAF Rep. - Norm Jefferson corrected two phone numbers for Air Force members which were in the membership directory: COL George Lewis - (512) 292-4711 and MAJ Leon Poteet - (512) 985-6277

Navy Rep. - Joyce Hoover had 2 no-shows for the April dinner meeting and one new member CAPT Howard Lacey

President Del Vecchio announced that the Austin Chapter of AMOAA (TROA) will be 50 years old in January 2009.

Asst. Chaplain Leon Holland closed the meeting with a Benediction

Meeting adjourned at 1420 hrs.
