AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES PRESENT: Charles Bush, Ernie Dean, Pat Eagan, Laura Fowler, Leon Holland, Joyce Hoover, Merlen Howe, Wes Lokken, Roger Rabago, John Rehm The meeting was called to order by President Wes Lokken at 1330 hrs. Chaplain Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation MINUTES of the November Board Meeting were approved as submitted TREASURER'S REPORT - Bank Balance as of 31 December 2009 - $11,692.70 OPEN AGENDA ITEMS A. Membership 1. Discussion regarding the drop in number of members - question as to what more can be done to recruit new members (a) Try to interest newly-commissioned officers in joining (b) Establish which returning Veterans are Officers and solicit membership among them (c) Ben Meharg has sent out letters to National members living in our area B. Christmas Dance 1. It was suggested that we invite other military groups to increase the numbers attending the December meeting and that the dance be re-established (a) Have these other groups be part of a planning committee (b) The Military Coalition was mentioned as a good source for attendees and input in the planning (c) Wes Lokken volunteered to discuss these ideas with MGen Russ Baldwin - who is involved in various military activities in the area - to get his input OFFICERS REPORTS 1st. V.P. - Laura Fowler discussed her program focus which is to invite groups who help Veterans as speakers. It was suggested that the information presented should be applicable to our age group. The idea of charging commercial speakers for their presentation (with the fee going to our Scholarship Fund) was again discussed. It was suggested that we get the concensus of our membership regarding this matter. CHAPLAIN - Ernie Dean requested prayers for his 4 yr. old granddaughter, Isabel, who is preparing to undergo lung surgery NEWSLETTER - John Rehm announced that the replacement for him as Editor will be CDR Beverly Kelsey PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS There has been a request from Mike Boston for volunteers to guard the replica of the Vietnam Wall which will be in Lakeway in May. Volunteers will be needed on a 24-hour basis. It was suggested that this request be printed in our newsletter each month until May. Chaplain Dean closed the meeting with a Benediction.
