AMOAA BOARD MEETING
23 JANUARY 2012

PRESENT: Ernie Dean, Phillip Denney, Pat Eagan, Chuck Gaede, Leon Holland, Bev Kelsey, Cecil Martin, Ben Meharg, Maurice Quigley, Gerry Walters, Nathan Webster

The meeting was called to order by President Quigley at 1330 hrs

Chaplain Ernie Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation

MINUTES of the November meeting were accepted as submitted

TREASURER'S REPORT - Bank Balance as of 31 December 2011 - $9,064.90
Phillip Denney distributed a 2011-2012 Income Report

NEW BUSINESS

A. A Discussion regarding the possibility of raising the cost of the dinners to $25.00/person due to decreasing numbers in attendance and our having to meet a minimum of 65 meals.
1. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously that we charge $1.00 per alcoholic drink beginning at the March meeting to help defray expenses in lieu of raising the dinner cost at this time.
B. Since our regular Board Meeting day in February is Presidents' Day and the Command Center would be closed, it was decided to change the date to Feb. 27.
C. A question was raised by one of the members at the January dinner meeting re: the reading of the MOAA Preamble at the dinner meetings as had been done previously. It was decided that the Preamble could be shown on a screen during the Social hour.

OFFICERS REPORTS

1st. V.P. - Chuck Gaede reported that the February speakers would be Maj David Hamil, USMC, Senior Marine Instructor and cadet Lt.Col. Jenna Hadjar, Battalion Commander from Jack C. Hays High School MCJROTC Commander

2nd V.P. - Ben Meharg gave lists to the service reps. of those members who
have rejoined the Chapter. He stressed the importance of contacting those who have not rejoined. Letters will go out to potential members in early February.

3rd. V.P. - Nathan Webster reported that $205 was spent for refreshments this month.

NEWSLETTER - Deadline for the February bulletin is 30 January

PERSONAL AFFAIRS - Leon Holland reported that the January speaker, Amy Praskac, has agreed to be a resource for our P.A. Committee

ROTC - It was decided that our Chapter will commit to four $500.00 scholarships for JROTC/ROTC cadets. We will continue to request contributions to the scholarship fund.

CHAPLAIN - Ernie Dean suggested that we do more to encourage people to attend the meetings and that we make sure that everyone feels welcome

Meeting adjourned at 1445 hrs.
