AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
28 JANUARY 2013
PRESENT: Phil Denny, Jack Knox, Bev Kelsey, Leon Holland, Ben .Meharg, Gerry
Walters, J. R. Howard, Roger Longenbach, Ernie Dean, Chuck Gaede, Martha Pyle.
The meeting was called to order at 1330 hrs. by President Chuck Gaede.
Chaplain Dean opened the meeting with the Invocation.
MINUTES of the November Board Meeting were approved with the correction of Roger
Longenbach's last name.
TREASURER'S REPORT: Balance as of 1 December 2012 was $8048.64. Scholarship
Account had $2415.50. Approved as given.
OLD BUSINESS: A. review of the December and January meetings were
discussed: A
member was texting while the National Anthem was playing. Set up for the
Christmas party was very good. At the January meeting the speakers needed to be
moved if the wireless microphone is used.
B. Carlos Higgins is to co-ordinate the State Meeting to be held in Austin Feb.
13-14, 2013. The pre-meeting on Feb. 6, 2013 is for input to the Texas
legislature. On Feb. 14, the members will go to the legislature to present their
concerns for the Veterans. Feb. 14 will be an open meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
April's speaker will be Art Acevedo, Chief of Police for Austin. May speaker
will be on Counter Terrorism, A Mr. Stafford, as well as the installation of the
new officers by Col. Quigley. June will have Col. Cox as speaker.
Five of the last 10 speakers have been from the military. A military officer
normally is speaker on the Services Birthday.
A review of places for our monthly meeting will begin in Feb, and March. Any and
all suggestions are appreciated.
Nominations for new officers will be announced at the March meeting. Voted on
in April and installed by Col Quigley.
1st Vice Pres: Roger and Phil are to follow up on Corky Robinson for the
Christmas Dance in
December 2013.
2nd Vice Pres: Ben Meharg reported no dues have been paid for Carlos Higgins.
3rd Vice Pres: Phil stated the speaker for February would be from the Veterans
Commission
Secretary: no report
USA Rep.- No report
USAF REP.- We now have almost $2500. in our Scholarship Fund.
USN/USMC/USCG/USPHS/USNOAA REP. No Report
NEWSLETTER: Bev said all input was on time and will go the the printer on the
first of the month
PERSONAL AFFAIRS: NO REPORT
CHAPLAIN: Gen Didlake is doing better. A lady who lives in Longhorn Village
needs a ride to the AMOAA meetings if transportation could be arranged.
MILITARY COALITION: Gerry Walters reported that the new Medical Complex will all
be open on April 20, 2013. Some sections will open sooner. Ted Cruz( Sen-R,TX)
has been appointed to the Armed Services Commission in Congress.
LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: NO REPORT
WEB MASTER: Need bios.

Next Board meeting will be February 25, 2013 at 1330 hrs.
