AMOAA BOARD MEETING
20 MAY 2013

PRESENT: Chuck Gaede, Maurice Quigley, Ernie Dean, Jr., Gerry Walters, Roger Longenbach, Jack Knox, J. Robert Howard, Bev Kelsey, Cecil Martin, Hal Hampton, Bill Del Vecchio, Lou Annacone, Martha Pyle.

The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Gaede at 1330 hrs.
The Invocation was given by Chaplain Ernie Dean.

MINUTES: The April minutes were distributed to all members present and approved as written.

OLD BUSINESS:
The question was asked about the last meeting. The only comments was : "Why are we not having any bread?"
The reply was" it was not in the contract".

DRINKS: Roger recommended an idea "for a bottle of wine as a gift and then get scratch off tickets for the Vets, and give 5 tickets for $10.00"
1st VICE PRESIDENT: Phil stated the speaker for the June meeting will be Maj. Travis Habhab. He is the new Army ROTC instructor at UT.
Lou, the incoming 1st Vice President is hoping to get Adm. "Bobby" Inman as a speaker for sometime next year. We have 4 military birthdays to celebrate at which time we try to have someone from that branch to speak.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT: absent
3rd VICE PRESIDENT: The new caterer for September 2013 will be Carino's . There will be no contract, but will be on a month by month selection. The motion was mad by Cecil Martin to accept Carino's on a month by month basis. Seconded by Roger Longenbach. Motion carried. This will also include the utensils, table cloths, rental fee.
AMOAA would add their cost onto the one Carino's gives us. Words of appreciation to JR, and others on his committee for the hard work they have done to scout up out a more permanent place to meet.
SECRETARY: NOTHING TO REPORT
TREASURER: There were 58 in attendance, 2 guests, and 1 new member. $7727.69.00 is in the bank. We are in a downward trend in attendance and income.
USA REP:
USAF REP: We have a new member from the AF .
USN/USMC/USCG/USPHS/USNOAA: Absent
NEWSLETTER: Deadline is 30 May.
CHAPLAIN: He reported the death of a Mr. Eledge who died on May 15, 2013. Merlen Howe is in hospital.
BGEN. Didlake is now in rehab and is doing better.
MILITARY COALITION: No report
ROTC: They gave out 5 scholarships. Cecil Martin learned that all service gold bars are not the same.
WEB MASTER: JR needs the bios for the new board.

Then President Gaede gave his farewell remarks before turning the meeting over to the new president, Col. Cecil Martin

Cecil then encourage us all to re-energize AMOAA, about protecting our military benefits. The Government  is attempting to reduce our retiree benefits.

The next General Meeting is June 19, 2013.
The next Board meeting will be June 24, 2013.
The Benediction was given by Chaplain Dean.
The meeting was adjourned at 144:45 hrs by President Gaede.
