AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
31 OCTOBER 2011

PRESENT: Ernie Dean, Phillip Denney, Pat Eagan, Chuck Gaede, Leon Holland, Bev Kelsey, Cecil Martin, Maurice Quigley, Gerry Walters, Nathan Webster

The meeting was called to order by President Quigley at 1330 hrs.

Chaplain Ernie Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation

MINUTES of the September Board Meeting were approved as submitted

TREASURER'S REPORT - Bank balance as of 30 September 2011 - $9,552.09

NEW BUSINESS

A. New idea introduced by National for recruiting new members

1. National will assign new members to chapters in their area and send the names and addresses to the chapter for contact
2. It was suggested that J.R. Howard could send them information pertinent to the meetings i.e. time, place, speaker

OLD BUSINESS

A. Comments regarding the October dinner meeting

1. Most of the issues have been resolved i.e. sound system excellent; menu very good; service exemplary; members very pleased
2. There were requests that there be no music during the dinner since it created a problem with talking

OFFICERS REPORTS

1st. V.P. - Chuck Gaede thanked Bev Kelsey for her help in getting the Navy material together for the October meeting. November is the Marine Corps. Birthday celebration and the speaker is COL Jeff Haynes. The December meeting will be held on December 14 with Corky Robinson's Band playing for dinner and dancing until 2130 hrs. Chuck also requested ideas for speakers to add to the pool of "last minute" speakers.

3rd. V.P. - Nathan Webster reported that the cost is going down with regard to bar supplies and that the drink tickets were discontinued. Alcohol consumption was the same without the tickets. For the November meeting there will be no alternative menu choice - only the turkey entrée.

ARMY REP. - Gerry Walters reported that everything was well done and he received no complaints regarding the dinner meeting

NEWSLETTER - Bev Kelsey reported that she would put a request for scholarship contributions in the November newsletter

CHAPLAIN - Ernie Dean reported that Edie Musgrove and Ben Meharg had attended the October dinner meeting and both appeared to be doing well

ROTC - Cecil Martin reported that he had proposed that the ROTC units select their nominee for the MOAA Scholarship Award earlier so we could have them attend one of our dinners. There was discussion about the possibility of having Cadets attend a dinner on one of the Service Birthdays. Cecil will explore these ideas.

Meeting adjourned at 1445 hrs.
