AMOAA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
24 SEPTEMBER 2012

PRESENT: Ernie Dean, Chuck Gaede, Cecil Martin, Jack Knox, Roger Logenbach, Bev Kelsey, Phil Denny, Leon Holland, Gerry Walters, Maurice Quigley, J. R. Howard, Martha Pyle

The meeting was called to order at 1330 hrs by Pres. Gaede

Chaplain Dean opened the meeting with the Invocation

MINUTES: The minutes of the June Board meeting were read and corrected as follows: Gen. Didlake, (spelling corrected.) Not Dilike . Then they were filed.

TREASURER'S REPORT: The bank balance as of 31 August 2012, was $8498.97 with the ending balance in the Scholarship Fund of $526.50

A letter was passed around from one of the recipients of a scholarship.

OLD BUSINESS:

    A. SCHOLARSHIP-Fowler Law Firm deposited on September 16, 2012 a check for $1,000.00 into the Scholarship Fund. No specific name, nor amount, was designated. Target date for all scholarships fund of $2500.00 is due not later than 1 May 2013. We now have $1,500.00 in the fund. We need $1,000.00 more in order to give five (5) $500.00 scholarship in 2012-2013

    B. PROGRAMS: Much positive feedback has been received concerning the new arrangement in the
dining area. Suggestions were to give a portable microphone to the person speaking.

   C. FACILITY: AMOAA is locked into a contract with gumbo's at the Hdqrs. Bldg. for the remainder of 2012-2013. J. R. Howard will look into different meeting facilities for 2013-2014.

    D. PROGRAMS:--2012-2013 Speaker needed for February 2013. Speaker for November will be LT General Howell, USMC. Date is moved to November 14, 2012 for the general meeting and November 19, 2012 for the board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

    A. President Gaede has ordered 12 mementos from MOAA

    B. 1. Commander Fowler asked to re-instate the legal column in the Newsletter.

        2. Cmdr Fowler offered to have a free weekly e-mail legal article of information on our Website.
        That is to be sent to J. R. Howard, Webmaster.

        3. Cmdr. Fowler offered to be the Legal Advisor for AMOAA. Leon Holland made a motion to
        accept Cmdr Fowler's offer to be the LEGAL ADVISOR for AMOAA. Motion passed.

OFFICERS REPORT

3RD VICE PRESIDENT--J. R. Howard reported the current liquor expense was $222.32. 
Several items are needed.

PROGRAM-Phil Denny passed around the speakers list for the remainder of 2012-2013.

DINNER REPORT-70 members and guests paid There were 2 guests

NEWSLETTER-Friday, 27 October is the deadline for the November Newsletter

PERSONAL AFFAIRS-A new list of Committee will be prepared for distribution

CHAPLAIN-Chaplain Dean reported that Gen Didlake has been in and out of the hospital with a raging
staph infection and someone from CDC has been brought in to determine what can be done. He and his
family desperately need our prayers. Devin Pyle, grandson of Martha Pyle was in a terrible auto accident
earlier in the week and is in critical condition in a Tucson hospital.

AUSTIN MILITARY SERVICE COALITION-Gerry Walters reported that the Jr. ROTC's were under fire for their presence on the high school campuses and for recruiting on campus.

Chaplain Dean closed with the Benediction
