26 JANUARY 2009 PRESENT: Charles Bush, Ernie Dean, Bill Del Vecchio, Pat Eagan, Leon Holland, Joyce Hoover, Merlen Howe, Norman Jefferson, Wes Lokken, Fred lord, John Musgrove, Roger Rabago, John Rehm The meeting was called to order at 1325 hrs. by President Merlen Howe Chaplain Dean opened the meeting with an Invocation MINUTES of the November Board Meeting were approved as amended (to reflect that Charles Bush was present in November) TREASURER'S REPORT: Bank balance as of 31 Dec. 2008 - $9353.31 OLD BUSINESS A. 50th Anniversary Celebration Review 1. Bill Del Vecchio reported the overall consensus of opinion was that the event went very well. 2. Two suggestions were made as to what should be done with the commemorative coins that were left over - (1) Give coins to guest speakers as gifts; (2) Give coins to the old time members who could not be there at the Celebration. It was decided to table the matter until the February Board Meeting when a final decision will be made. 3. The extra Brochures will be given to new members as they join the Chapter. B. TCC Meeting in February - John Musgrove reported that TCC had not made a decision about a Ladies Tour on Saturday morning. John Musgrove and Wes Lokken agreed to act as coordinators for the meeting. Wes agreed to attend the Leadership Conference at the Wyndham Hotel on Friday morning February 6. C. MOAA 80th Anniversary Observance in February - the consensus of the Board was that we would acknowledge it at our February dinner meeting and put recognition of the event in the February Newsletter. D. President Howe asked that Board members send him any comments they have regarding the 50th Celebration for his use in compiling an After Action report. NEW BUSINESS A. The February speaker will be Tom O'Meara, an attorney with the Fowler Law Firm. His topic is Golden Planning - wills and estates. B. Newsletter input - John Rehm asked for new members' names for inclusion in the February newsletter. He also plans to include pictures from the Anniversary Celebration. OFFICERS REPORTS 2nd V.P. - John Musgrove confirmed that we offer one year free membership for new members and also mentioned that there is a one year free membership for those joining MOAA. ROTC- Fred Lord requested that President Howe sign certificates that he will mail to the schools. Graduating Cadets will receive gold bars furnished by our Chapter. It was suggested that we invite the JROTC and ROTC Corps Commanders to be our guests at the various Service Birthday Commemorative dinners. The Board unanimously agreed. USAF Rep. - Norm Jefferson reported that he is trying to get correct E-mail addresses to be used for making on-line reservations. He will coordinate this effort with John Musgrove and Roger Rabago. SECRETARY - Pat Eagan will write thank you letters to Sandy at BAE for her help with the 50th Celebration and Rylen Rudy for his assistance in coordinating all aspects of VADM Ryan's visit. Chaplain Dean closed the meeting with a Benediction Meeting adjourned at 1430 hrs. PAT EAGAN, SECRETARY THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON 23 FEBRUARY 2009 AT 1330 HRS.
