THE BULLETIN BOARD |
FEBRUARY AND A FARE OF FONDNESS This month's days claiming fame are the birthdays of two revered presidents and a special day for plumping one's valentines. In emphasis of the latter, what better time to spread some sweetness and light toward our Board of Directors for the many, usually unseen, actions they do for our organization. Each is earning a sincere parade of fondest appreciation for himself and the supportive spouse that works beside him. Paul Fenech is having uncanny success at finding and engaging guest speakers who are interesting and informative. Don Loucks keeps the ever-changing membership roster on track in his computer, a feat that few of us are adequately competent to do. Jack Garison is the detail man who makes our meetings hum like a well-oiled machine (no pun intended, though provisioning the bar is part of the job). Mary Kelso is well known as keeper-of-the-purse as she takes a toll from each of us for dues and dinners, then faithfully plays eagle-eye CPA.. Leon Holland, Lucille Labaj, and "Greg" Gregory (Army, Navy+, and Air Force reps) work with unsung, but greatly appreciated, callers taking reservations for each meeting and focus inherent leadership activities with compassion and understanding . Pat Eagan has served the chapter for years as secretary and Bulletin editor and faith- fully and capably |
remains the former. Peggy Holland, another "computer
whiz," applies her scholarly background as new editor with
professionalism and originality. Jack Ledbetter, as past
president, ably provides continuity and appreciated guidance to the
board. Chaplains Jameson and Nicholson concentrate with
sincerity on our spiritual plusses and minuses, to include recognizing
and appreciating our blessings. Anne Steinocher, with typical
female tenderness, lends support and service to family members in times
of stress and heartache in con- cert with service representatives.
Special outreach to particular local or wide area activities is most
ably provided by Walt Conley for ROTC units, Tom Spencer
for national legislative and state TROA activities, John Hardage
for The Austin Military Coalition, and Ralph Pyle for the Austin
Retiree Council and TROA TOPS program. Each of these ladies and gentlemen is earning great respect for jobs done well. Here's a valentine of greeting and on-going thanks to them, one and all! -------PCF EVENTS 18 Feb - 1830 hours - Dinner Meeting - Tracor 24 Feb - 1630 hours - Board Meeting 7 & 27 Feb - ROWC See back page |

WORDS To LIVE 'By The/allowing inspirational words were shared by Mrs. Nina Fling: ATTITUDE The Conger I live the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important that than past, than education, than money than circumstances, than failures than successes, than what other people say or do. It is more important than appearance., giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. "We cannot change our past...we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.... 1 am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it, And so it is with you.... "We are in charge of our attitudes. -Charles Swindboff
