God's Unbridled Righteousness Love and faithfulness will meet. Righteousness and peace will embrace. Man's loyalty will reach up from the earth. And God's righteousness will look down from heaven. The Lord will make us prosperous, and our land will produce rich harvests. Righteousness will go before the Lord and prepare a path for him. (Psalm 85:10-13) We speak of God using a great a variety of words and meanings. Different people focus on different words and meaning, but the intent is the same-to honor and praise God for God's goodness, God's righteousness. God is revealed in the Bible as ONE God, Spirit, Life, Light, and Love. We broaden these thoughts often by using additional wording: all-knowing, all wise, all powerful, just, blessed, gracious, merciful. I believe all of this can be placed under the one word: Righteousness. From our reading of the verses in Psalm 85, we can see readily that God is actively seeking out the good for creation. God loves us and embraces us faithfully. There is mention of being prosperous with a rich harvest; here we are speaking of spiritual prosperity and the richness of a solid and active faith. Our spiritual outlook is the determinant of our thoughts and actions. When we get right with God spiritually, all else falls into place. Verse 8 of this wonderful Psalm challenges use to listen: "I am listening to what the Lord says." Paying attention and listening, has been a problem for us all of our lives, whether we mean other aspects of life or just our faith life. Nothing holds back God's enthusiasm for relationship, but we can divert our attention away from God-thereby lessening callings, and casting ourselves adrift as we meander along aimlessly. |
How righteous do you and I feel (not self-righteous)? How close to God and one
another are we? The Bible presents to us the norm of what God expects. It is all
based on love, respect, honor, justice, faithfulness. The true norm is the
character of God's own being. God is a birthing and saving God. God breathes on
creation and it comes alive. It is sustained by righteousness and faithfulness.
This is God's way. May it be our way also!.

Spouse Burial Benefits. Surviving spouses are eligible for burial with their veteran husband or wife. Divorced spouses or spouses who had their marriage annulled are ineligible. The rules do not address separation thus they are entitled the same as surviving spouses. Space-available flights are likely to decrease as a result of budget constraints and a falling load of worldwide air missions, Defense Department officials said in a recent report studying the feasibility of expanding the free-flight program. All men make mistakes, but married men find out about them sooner...Red Skelton The Soviets received 11,000 aircraft through the US Lend-Lease Program. The majority were flown from Fairbanks Alaska by Soviet pilots. The remainder were either delivered by ship to the Arctic port of Murmansk or flown via South America, Africa, and the Persian Gulf to Iran. |

| Helpful Info for Bronze Star or LOM Recipients George Kennebeck spoke recently about a benefit for those who had received a Bronze Star or a Legion of Merit. The State of Texas will provide a free lifetime license plate and covered parking at the Austin-Bergstrom Airport. He suggested you take that savings and donate to the scholarship fund. To find out the details, Google TxDOT--Under "Quick Links" go to "Vehicle registration". That page will redirect you to DMV. On the DMV page, open the "How Do I" box and open "Forms". On the Forms page select "License Plate Forms" and then "Military and vets" You want VTR 421. VTR 421 is listed several times but the form is all the same-- any one will do. | Follow their directions. A few helpful hints- If you have two cars -register one under LOM and one under Bronze star. If you register two cars under one award you must pay for the second one. Check your DD214-It must list your award or you will have to submit proof of the award with your application. If your DD 214 doesn't show you are retired then copy your ID card as proof. Your plate should take about 3-4 weeks. Good luck and if you have any problems just let me know. Several people have tried to speed up the process by walking the applications thru--but that didn't help--Use the mail ---George 263-5701 gknn@earthlink.net |

Spanish American War
The Puerto Rican Campaign was an American military sea and land operation
on the island of Puerto Rico during the Spanish–American War. The offensive
began on May 12, 1898, when the United States Navy attacked the archipelago’s
capital, San Juan.
The land offensive began on July 25, when 1,300 infantry soldiers led by Nelson A. Miles disembarked of the coast of Guánica. After controlling the first skirmish, the Americans advanced to Coamo, where they engaged Puerto Rican and Spanish troops in battle. The battle concluded when the allied soldiers retreated after the battle left two dead on their side, and four on the American side. The United States was able to seize control of Fajardo on August 1, but were forced to withdraw on August 5 after a group of 200 Puerto Rican-Spanish soldiers led by Pedro del Pino gained control of the city, while most civilian inhabitants fled to a nearby lighthouse. The Americans encountered larger opposition as they advanced towards the main island’s interior. They engaged in two crossfires in Guamani River and Coamo, both of which were inconclusive as the allied soldiers retreated. A battle in San Germán concluded in a similar fashion with the Spanish retreating to Lares. On August 9, 1898, American troops that were pursuing units retreating from Coamo encountered heavy resistance in Aibonito and retreated after six of their soldiers were injured. They returned three days later, reinforced with artillery units and attempted a surprise attack. In the subsequent crossfire, confused soldiers reported seeing Spanish reinforcements nearby and five American officers were gravely injured, which prompted a retreat order. All military actions in Puerto Rico were suspended on August 13, after U.S. President William McKinley and French Ambassador Jules Cambon, acting on behalf of the Spanish government, signed an armistice whereby Spain relinquished its sovereignty over the territories of Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Philippines and Guam.
