NACA Bulky Item Pickups Exceed
300 Tons!

On January 27th, Allied Waste Services of Austin (formerly BFI), completed the 27th bulky item trash pickup in the NACA area.

"We collected a total of 16.22 tons of bulky items," Matt Myers reports. "This brings the total tons of items collected, since the first bulky pickup on June 2003, to 333.05 tons! This represents a savings of $9336.00 in landfill disposal fees to the City of Austin Solid Waste Services Department, not including savings in labor and transportation."

The bulky item pickups performed by Allied Waste occur six times a year on a Saturday between 7:00am and 9:00am on ten selected streets in the NACA area. Notifications, in the form of a door hanger, are distributed a week before the pickup occurs.

For these bulky trash pickups, items NOT collected include refrigerators, tires with rims, car batteries, paint cans or lawnmowers that still contain gasoline.

If you have a street you would like to have targeted or have any questions about these pickups, please contact Matt Myers at 748-2425.
