Help Keep Your Neighborhood Clean

evergreen Once a month, a group of NACA neighbors get together to pick up trash in the neighborhood. Here's how these people are rewarded for their efforts:

  • A gentle workout by walking a few blocks and picking up trash with a grabber
  • The camaraderie of working with neighbors towards a common goal
  • The satisfaction of seeing the improvement in the appearance of the neighborhood
  • The sense of being an active contributor to the community Getting a job done early in the day so there's time left for other activities
  • The satisfaction of sending a lot of recyclable items to BFI instead of letting them get washed into Town Lake in the next big rain.
  • The possibility of winning the $5 bill awarded to the person who finds the most unusual piece of trash.

evergreen Please join us for the scheduled 2008/2009 pickup dates listed below. We and Keep Austin Beautiful supply bags, gloves, grabbers, and safety vests; all you have to do is show up. We also welcome children's help; it's a great way to teach them not to drop trash on the street.

We start at 7:30 A.M. and go through to 9:30 A.M.

To sign up, or for more information, contact Susie Milam at 491-9159.

There is also a Bulky Trash Pickup on a periodic basis, six times a year. Help is always welcome in putting out doorhangers on the included streets to announce the pickup. This is usually done the week before the pickup. If you'd like to help, contact Susie Milam at 491-9159.
