Eleanor Langsdorf - Biographical Information

In her own words

I am a retired high school mathematics teacher. I grew up in St. Louis, MO and have lived in the Chicago region, outside of Washington, DC,and here. My four children attended schools in Austin from 1978 to 1986 when we moved away. After retiring my husband, Lloyd, and I moved back into the house we had purchased in 1978. Currently I volunteer with a variety of groups at my church and in the community. I serve on the board of Hostelling International, Southwest Texas Council, hold office in some church groups, drive for North Central Caregivers and help with Project Linus activities. During tax season, I help prepare tax returns for people who qualify for assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The activity I enjoy most is the volunteering I do with students at Cook Elementary School where I work with children in grades 2 through 5 on improving and extending their mathematics skills.
As president, I would like to see the residents of the NACA area become more involved in maintaining and improving the appearance of both public and private spaces. This includes more volunteers for scheduled park and street clean-ups, more individuals taking ownership of a block or two by regularly picking up trash in the street and similar activities. It would be wonderful if more neighbors became active members by paying dues, showing up at meetings (it would be great if we would outgrow the library meeting room), helping plan activities and supporting the board as needed.
Eleanor is our current Vice President, and has been very active in obtaining guest speakers and presentations at NACA meetings. ~knh.
