Code Compliance

The City of Austin has codes and ordinances to protect the health, safety, and the quality of life of Austin's citizens. Issues subject to code compliance include zoning enforcement such as businesses in residences and noncompliant outbuildings; dangerous housing such as hazardous or damaged buildings; neglected property violations such as accumulated trash, illegal dumping, or tall weeds and grass; and parking on the lawn.

Beginning in April, 2007, NACA will be publishing a list of non-compliant properties that have been reported to the city as in violation of the codes, along with the a description of the complaint and the actions taken to remedy the situation. The list will be updated as needed to keep it current (successes are in green).

Notice: These properties have been reported to city authorities and the information is therefore public record.

Update 08/30/2008: Due to a lack of current information, the non-compliance list has been removed.

If you see a violation in your neigborhood, call 311. Give the operator the location, a description, and when it was observed. Also, digital photographs that you can send to APD would be very helpful. Ask the operator for an email address to send them.

Keep in mind that the 311 operators are not police officers. Calling 311 does not get a police report filed. If you do go on to APD, request a case number for future reference.

You can also file a complaint online. The electronic form is easy to fill out and becomes public record when recorded.

To add a property to our list of violators, you may write
Anthony Williams, President,
North Austin Civic Association, P.O. Box 180803,

or e-mail naca_austin@hotmail.com .
Please provide the case number received from 311.You may remain anonymous.
