MEETING MINUTES __ December 10, 2009

OAKMONT HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Association President Arten Avakian called the meeting
to order at 6:47 p.m.
Brian Robbins with Westminster Manor described the
Manor's upcoming two-year expansion project.
The following association members were nominated to
serve as members of the Executive Committee for 2010:
Arten Avakian, President; Roland Gerth, Vice President;
Tom Whatley, Secretary/Treasurer; and Vonda Bloomquist,
Carl Hehmsoth, Laura Lund, Lois Mayes, and Anne Souby,
At-Large. Tom Whatley, seconded by Carl Hehmsoth, moved
to elect the members nominated to serve as officers and
at-large members of the Executive Committee. The motion
was adopted without objection.
Laura Lund proposed that the neighborhood association
purchase and erect signs to raise the profile of the
neighborhood name. She agreed to develop a design
proposal to be considered for future discussion by the
Executive Committee or the association as a whole.
The association discussed current issues and
priorities for the upcoming year, including the status of
the State Cemetery property, the status of the Bull Creek
Apartments project, the status of the MoPac managed lanes
project and noise walls, the proposed Central Texas
Rehabilitation Hospital at 1600 W. 38th St., construction
of the new Comerica Bank and the El Arbol Restaurant
along W. 35th St., and other issues, including conducting
a neighborhood issues survey, appointing block captains,
and holding a neighborhood get-together.
Carl Hehmsoth, seconded by Anne Souby, moved to
dispense with reading and to approve the minutes of the
November 20, 2008, meeting. The motion was adopted
without objection.
There being no further business, the meeting was
adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
