OAKMONT HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS from March 2008

Number 08-01
March 22, 2008

Presentation on Westminster Manor Expansion, Tuesday March 25, 2008, 6:45 pm, at Harris Bell Hall

Westminster Manor has long been a part of the Oakmont Heights Neighborhood. The facility officially opened April 1, 1967, and presently is home to approximately 300 residents. The folks at Westminster have known that someday the facility would need to expand, and have provided periodic updates on that schedule to the neighborhood association. Several years ago Westminster acquired land to the north of the current facility (the site of the former Agudas Achim temple/Gateway Church), and now in 2008 is ready to expand into that space.

Mr. Brian Robbins, the new executive director of Westminster Manor, said the expansion will allow a continuum of care for its residents by adding assisted living as an intermediate care option along with its existing independent living and nursing care facilities. The expansion would consist of 75 apartments, would be 5 stories tall, and comprise 248,736 square feet.

If you would like to know more about the expansion, the folks at Westminster are offering a presentation this coming Tuesday evening, March 25, 2008, starting at 6:45 p.m., in Harris Bell Hall at Westminster Manor. Harris Bell Hall is on the third floor in the north wing of the building, across from the elevator. To get to Harris Bell Hall, enter Westminster through the health care center at the north end of the facility, go to the end of the hallway behind the front desk, then take the elevator up one floor (or take the stairs at the end of the next hallway to the right). If driving, park in the lots at Jackson and Bull Creek Road.
