    • 9700 Page Avenue
    • St Louis, Missouri 63132-5100

Her father came to this country in 1912 when he was 16 . He was drafted into the army and went to France. He became a citizen during this time. Marie had his military records and at one point remembered the brass button he received. She sent for his Final Pay Voucher and had to pay $15; she did not have to pay for the medals. Her father came as a baby and lived in Hoboken NJ, then the family went back to Norway. Her father and his brother came again as teenagers. Her father stayed but his brother went back, and Marie corresponds with his family in Norway.

Jeanie MARSALIA (#4251) received a postcard from the Missouri State Archives informing her that her request for her gg-grandfather Thomas Alley's information had been received, and asking her to allow up to 4-6 weeks for a response to her request asking for a copy of his will.

Betty TOMMASELLI Glaser (#5297) found her grandmother Brigida DE LUISE'S brother, Michele De Luise emigrating from Telesino, Italy on 27 July 1905. He went to his brother Guiseppe De Luise at 452 Robbins Avenue, Bronx, NY. Brigida had arrived three weeks earlier, and went to her brother, Guiseppe.
Betty had no luck finding the De Luise family on the 1910 US Census, but when Googling 452 Robbins Avenue, found the following : former 1924 Olympic Flyweight Boxing Champion Fedele (Fidel) Labarba was born 29 September 1905, and this was the address for him and his parents, Domenico and Palmina. Looking at an historical map of the area, Betty found that the portion of current day Jackson Avenue from Westchester Avenue south to E. 138th Street was once called Robbins Avenue.

Guest Jim MARRONE is researching : MARRONE, DELMONTE, SCHIAVONE, GAGLIARDI, and DeCHILLO.

Guest Stace and Dee SMARRELLI are researching : STICCO, ALBERRICI, SMARRELLI and LA ROSA/ LA ROSE.

    Next meeting : 23 May 2012
