POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Submitted by: Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388)
Chapter #10 of POINT met at 7:00 pm, 25 August at the Con'Olio shop in Austin with 16 present.
We all enjoyed the presentation of olive oils and balsamic vinegars, many imported from Italy. Oils were varietals, and also were infused with flavors, herbs and mushrooms, and citrus. There were plain balsamic vinegars and those infused with fruits, dark chocolate, and even jalapeno for Texas palates. We learned that, in the United States, we can find 12-to-18 year old balsamics, but in Italy, one can find those aged 50-to-100 years old ! We sampled oils with bread, and vinegars drizzled on Grana Padana, Bleu and Camembert cheeses, as well as blueberry balsamic drizzled on brownies ! Lin briefly showed the book of Ruth L. Merriman's classes received in Salt Lake City.
We will return to genealogy searches at our next meeting on 22 September.
