After reviewing the 1910 Census for Hartford, CT, Betty TOMMASELLI Glaser (#5297) learned how important it is to pay attention to the details. She knew her Great-Grandmother, Sarah GALPERIN STONE ROSENBERG had three living children, but noted on the Census form that she reported 8 live births.
Betty reported that TCM [Turner Classic Movies] will present the 1963 movie, "The Leopard", on 8 pm, 25 August. It is directed by Luchino Visconti, and stars Burt Lancaster, Alan Delon and Claudia Cardinale.
Betty heard from Betty A. TOMASELLI that EWTN [ the Catholic channel ] reported that the Vatican is selling 3-day passes, costing $85 for adults and $55 for children.

Joe MASTRANGELO (#2614) shared the news from Grace Lancieri Olivo, that since ceasing publication of THE COMMUNES OF ITALY magazine, she has been downsizing. She is selling most of her Italian book collection on eBay. Her email address : graceolivo@comcast.net

Sherry PACELLI Haddox (#4883)shared three web sites on Bellona. These web sites will allow you to select any city in Italy, and the third site will get you to the white pages in Italy. DB-City.com. and www.commune.bellona.ce.it and www.paginebianche.it

Scott PATRICK (#4819) found a death record for his 4th great-grandmother Teresa GRAMEGNA from 1839 in the town of Anzi (PZ BA). This gives him death dates for 11 of his 16 4th great-grandparents on his Italian side. This also gave Scott the names of two more 5th great-grandparents, Tomasso Gramegna and Caterina MORENO, who were from the town of Altamura (BA PG).
Scott also stumbled upon an 1895 death record for his gg-grandfather's older brother Francesco Saverio GARAGUSI while he was following another lead in the town of Castelmezzano (PZ BA). This led him to look at records in a neighboring town, Campomaggiore (PZ BA) , where he found a death record in 1872 for a sister of his gg-grandfather, Maria Gaetana Garagusi. That record helped clear up some confusion on this person and an older sister, Giuseppina.
Scott now feels he has death dates for 12 of the 14 children of that generation, only missing death dates for the two who immigrated to the U.S.

    Next meeting : 24 August 2011
