PIP Chapter #10, General Meeting 22 March 2000

16 present at Bank One, Round Rock, Texas. Get-well card passed for Louis
Scopel who had knee surgery. Next Conference meeting : 25 March 2000, 1:00
pm at Brinkman's, and Lin promises no more spumoni. Bellagio's Italian
Restaurant was discussed, favorably. It's at 2222 and Jester in Austin.
Pat Oxley : contact in Italy found her Grandmother and all siblings' birth
dates. New names : GECCO and FRASCA. She and her husband will be going to
Italy soon.
Don Villoni : received an autographed photo of Russ Colombo from Milan.
He is hunting Villonis on White Pages worldwide. Found a cousin in France
and sent letters. Received first response in ten days from a man whose
Grandfather was born in Italy and whose Grandmother's maiden name was
MIGILIORTI, and who knew of none of his ancestral relatives. Don sent
family tree material to him, his three brothers and their families. Hint :

Bill Brinkman: found in Essex County, NY, new names on list for a g-g uncle
with a different surname spelling. Writing a family book, and sent drafts
out for data correction. Found names in a book (ca 1620) from a
French-Canadian organization, with relatives' names in it.
Virginia Gerrick : no luck in New Haven, CT finding her Grandmother's
death certificate. Has newspaper article regarding her death from a fire.
No luck with interlibrary loan. Got Grandfather's Mother's maiden name :
Giovanna MARTINO. Knew of many of these families while growing up, but
didn't realize they were family. Info passed on from Jim's Czech group :
keep a copy of your Census forms before you send them off for family
records. No one in Chapter #10 has received the long form.
Joe Mastrangelo: Marie has a relative in Pennsylvania who has sent a
picture of the house where her Mother was born. Joe is returning to
records he worked on in 1996 and able to correct errors. Had misidentified
GGM Maria Lucia as her sister Maria Luisa. Finds much repeating of names
in records.
Sheila Dugosh : inadverdently let FHC films return to Salt Lake; will
reorder. Said she has difficulty reading the films. Members advised: bring
a good magnifying glass; bring a sheet of yellow paper to put on screen to
make a yellow background; compare index, numbers, month names to help
decipher handwriting of clerk.
Jeannie Marsalia : new member of POINT, # 4251. No response yet from
genealogy and historical organizations in Oklahoma. Still hunting for
Grandfather's declaration of intent for naturalization. Searching ship
records for variant spelling of MARSAGLIA. Using FamilySearch to look for
MARCHETTI. Keeping file of all contacts with pertinent details.
Augie Troiani : Brought in Italian-related newspaper clippings. Couviere
della Sera (Milan) -- article on web site which shows where surnames are
located in Italy (350,000 surnames) on a geographical map.

Highland Park Baptist Church, Austin. Speaker from Texas Archives.
Third and final garage sale netted $158.95. What remained was donated to
Goodwill. Next general meeting : 15 April, 1:00 pot luck. Cost $1 and
bring any
