POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Submitted by: Sherry PACELLI Haddox (4883)
Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388) called the meeting to order with 17 present. She spoke of the upcoming memorial service for former POINT #10 member,
Sheila BAYHA Dugosh, to be held on March 27th.
Lin mentioned the informal class at the University of Texas, "Recipes for Family History", taught by Dawn Orsak which is a class about food, family traditions and
cultural heritage.
Yearly dues of $10.00 were collected.
Lin's husband, Bill, reported that the trail is getting ever closer to proving that Lin is related to member Don VILLONI, as they now have three names in common.
Joe MASTRANGELO (#2614) is continuing to extract death records from 1809-1900. He is currently viewing the 1898 records. Joe is reaching 3600 records extracted and in excess of 2300 recorded in the Death Data Base. Joe's Birth Data base contains 4217 records and his Marriage Data Base has 1383 records. The fruits of his labor are continuing to be useful. He is able to link the Data bases together to correct/confirm information from one set of records to another (Birth vs. Death records). This is especially helpful when the ability to understand the original document is impaired.
Joe MASTRANGELO, Jeanie Marsalia (#4251), and Sherry PACELLI Haddox (#4883) each received post cards from their ancestral towns notifying them of pending local elections for Provincial President, Provincial Parliament Members and Mayor coming up at the end of March. None of them will be able to vote because you have to be there in person.
Marie ZANFARDINO Jensen requested information on how to involve other members of the family to assist with some of the research. Excellent suggestions followed on how to enlarge and use charts of the family tree at gatherings and reunions. Another suggestion: create place mats with the family tree. Marie said that would certainly be a big hit with their "foodies". Marie did discover rule Number One, "There's only one researcher in every family, and once you start, you're it!"
Patricia COLACINO is trying to find out information about the parents of Luisa DeMEDICI, her great grandmother. She was told to write to the town of MOTTA SANTA LUCIA in Italy and ask for a copy of her death record, birth record, and/or marriage record.
Rick & Pat COPPOLA were unable to attend the meeting because they were in New York visiting their son, daughter-in-law and their first grandchild, a boy, Kyler Coppola. Congratulations to their entire family!
The meeting adjourned at 8:15pm. The next meeting will be April 28th at 6:30pm at Lin and Bill's guest house.
