POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Submitted by: Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (1388)
Pointers In Person Chapter #10 met on 23 March 2011 with 18 members present, plus a guest speaker, at the home of Bill and Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (1388), in Round Rock, Texas.
Speaker Joyce Wans spoke on, "What my Great Great Grandfather Taught Me", about her Kashubian ancestors from Germany, Poland and Prussia. They settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and her research taught her to be persistant, and not be thrown by different spellings and different dates and ages listed. She said to check historical time lines, and see what affect history has on family life----- why people moved, or didn't move. In her witty style, Joyce showed us her research on Churches, cemeteries, and court records.
Betty TOMMASELLI Glaser (5297) reported that she made contact with one of half-brothers in Pennsylvania she found through doing genealogy research, and met with a paternal cousin visiting Texas from Connecticut.
Scott Patrick (#4819) has been recently contacted by two distant
relatives. One is on his Swedish side, and turned out to be a 4th
cousin. She still lives in Sweden near where Scott's grandfather was
born and sent him pictures of his great-grandparents' graves. She also
had information on several of Scott's great-uncles who immigrated to
the U.S.
The other new contact was on the Italian side. This is a 3rd cousin to
Scott, and is a daughter of the actor Don ADAMS. Scott was able to
share a good deal of information with her, and even sent a picture of
her great-grandmother Adelaide GARAGUSI, a sister of Scott's great
-grandmother.
The next meeting will be April 27th at 6:30pm.
