POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Sherry PACELLI Haddox (4883)
Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388) opened the monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 16th, with 7 people in attendance. Lin reminded the group that PIP annual Christmas party will be held at their home on December 4th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share.
Joe MASTRANGELO (#2614) received news from the LDS on Rutherford Lane that a new scanner will be available soon at the Round Rock FHC.
He announced that the FHC will be closed from November 21 thru November 30.
Joe's Italian passport has not arrived yet, however, he suspects it's due to the fact that the person responsible has been in Italy and was to return to Houston on
November 15th.
Joe is continuing with his record extraction from PUTIGNANO, BARI. He now has 3600 birth records from 1809 to 1896.
Jeanie MARSALIA (#4251) viewed a film at the FHC and found quite a few documents that might be pertaining to her ancestors but she was unable to copy
them due to the broken copier. She renewed the film in hopes the copier will be repaired soon.
Jeanie is looking into dual citizenship but she's not sure if she will qualify since she cannot find the record of her grandfather's naturalization.
She announced that there is an Italian market that will opening soon in the triangle off North Lamar Street in Austin called Mandola's Italian Market.
Scott Patrick (#4819) has been continuing to go through the films for LAURENZANA (PZ BA) and has been finding records on relatives on his
CAFARELLA, D'ALESANDRO, MARTOCCIA, MANZI, and MOTTO lines. At present he is working on the 1820's.
Scott also has attempted to contact a person with the Helsinki, Finland Philharmonic to see if they have any information on a relative of his named GARAGUSI who may
have conducted the Philharmonic. Scott knows that two Garagusi brothers, Vincent and Nicholas, were both musicians so either one of them could be a candidate.
Sherry PACELLI Haddox (#4883) told the group that she sent letters to two more towns in BENEVENTO, S. SALVATORE TELESINO and FAICCHIO, requesting they check their records for her grandfather's birth certificate. She sent a request to APOLLOSA on October 14th but has not heard from them at this time.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM. Our next regular meeting will be January 25, 2006 at 6:30 at the Round Rock Library.
