POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Submitted by: Sherry PACELLI Haddox (4883)
Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388) opened our monthly meeting on November 28th with 7 people in attendance. Lin reminded
us about our annual Christmas potluck party at the Brinkman's on Sunday, December 3rd, from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
Lin also mentioned that, beginning in January, our meetings will be held at Merrill Gardens, 8005 Cornerwood Dr. in Austin.
Lin told us that her MANCO/MANGO family celebrated their cousin Frank LOMBARDI'S 90th birthday in Connecticut.
Joe MASTRANGELO (#2614) is continuing to extract Morti records from 1809 on. He is currently viewing 1853 records. While going thru the Morti records he has had some sad insight into family tragedies ~ like losing one infant and a few weeks later losing another or a spouse dies and several months later the other spouse dies. There is also some information available that predates the 1809 inception of the record keeping by the Civil authorities. You can pick up spousal information, parental information on the deceased, additional family member information from the "witness" section and also relationship information such as brother-in-law or sons or nephews, etc. In summary, there is a wealth of information available from these otherwise "grim" documents. To date, Joe has extracted 350+ Morti records that contain either the MASTRANGELO or PUGLIESE (sometimes both) names.
Jeanie MARSALIA (#4251) mailed the set of translated documents from English to Italian that the Italian Consulate's
office in Houston requested in order to obtain her Italian citizenship.
Jeanie received a letter from the Borghese family who manufacture an Italian Bath & Body line of products. The
letter was in response to a letter she sent them.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20pm. The exact date and time of our January meeting will be sent to our members later this month.
