POINTers IN PERSON Minutes
Chapter # 10 Central Texas/Austin
Sherry PACELLI Haddox (4883)
Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388) opened the monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 26th, with 15 people in attendance. Lin reported that her husband, Bill, had offered to help an old friend find his family. The friend had been adopted from Puerto Rico and Bill quickly found three generations for him on the internet.
Joe MASTRANGELO (#2614) reported that on October 20, 2005 he visited the Italian Consulate in Houston to finalize his Dual Citizenship paperwork. It is all over! His registration form was completed and accepted and he was told his passport would arrive in 7-10 days! At this time, the following documents are now registered in Putignano (BA):
Jeanie MARSALIA (#4251) received an answer from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (Department of Homeland Security) regarding her request dated
March 5, 2004. Jeanie requested copies of naturalization papers for her grandfather, Giuseppe MARSAGLIA. They completed their search but, unfortunately, they did
not locate any record of her grandfather's naturalization.
The Family History Center has received the film she ordered. She is trying to locate any records on her great-grandparents, Giovanni MARSAGLIA,
Margarita BENEDETTO, Domenico CATOISO MARCHETTI and Domenica MARSAGLIA.
Scott Patrick (#4819) has been trying to contact some distant cousins with the surname FAVORINI. If related, these would be descendants down through his
great-grandmother's sister Amalia MARONE GALGANO.
Scott and his wife recently returned from a trip to Washington D.C. where, among other things, he got to meet a second cousin he had recently made contact with,
Vincent GARAGUSI. They were able to share a bit more information.
Sherry (PACELLI) Haddox (#4883) brought some pictures of her trip to Italy to share with our group. She told of how she and two cousins, Violet MILONE and
Susan Miceli visited GRECI (AV),the birthplace of their grandmother, Antonetta Vincenza GLIATTA. They were there from August 23 - 26 and were very happy to
visit with Silvio GLIATTA, their first cousin, once removed. They were also happy to be with Silvio's daughter, Silvia Gliatta, and her husband, Pietro VENTRELLA
and their two daughters, Floridiana and Miranda. They were all very gracious and hospitable and their time in Greci was lovely and a very moving experience.
They ended their 2 week trip to Italy in ROME where they spent time with their distant cousin Alessandra GESUALDI, her husband, Matteo
MOTTOLA, and their two daughters, Sara and Sofia. They have so many wonderful memories of the time they spent together.
Sherry sent a letter to Apollosa (BN) requesting her grandfather's birth record. She now knows that he was born in the province of Benevento and one of the
POINT members told her that there are presently 43 PACELLI families that live in that town (which is in the province of Benevento). Her grandfather's name was
Dionisio Pacelli.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
Our next meeting will be on November 16th at 6:30 at the Round Rock Library.
