Submitted by: Sherry PACELLI Haddox(#4883)
POINT #10 met and had a potluck lunch on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Griffith Round Rock Public Library with 18 people in attendance.
Lin ONOFRIO Brinkman (#1388) reported on her recent visit to the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin for the beautiful exhibit on the art of Luca Cambiaso (1527-1585) which will remain at the museum until January 14, 2007. This is the only presentation in the United States and will then return to Genoa, Italy.
Former members of our chapter, Ernie and Gloria (GAMBACCINI) SILVA, now living in Humble, Texas, visited Austin for the potluck. Gloria showed pictures and postcards of Sansepolcro, Italy where her nephew bought an apartment and will reside. The town is located in the southeastern part of Tuscany not too far from Mondavio where Gloria's father was born. Gloria is presently looking for birth and death records from Guernsey County, Ohio on the Mehok family.
Another visitor was Willie Henderson of Ft. Worth, Texas who just recently started doing research on his Italian ancestors. His father was an Italian POW at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas during WWII and Willie is researching the POW lists and the name, PRIOLA.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 6:30pm in Room A, Round Rock Library.
