Good Kite, Bad Kite
Much kite research is secret military work aimed at lethal applications (eg. http://www.atairaerospace.com/). The Death Kite we joked about in Austin is real , giant guided parafoils that fly in flocks with enough high explosive to earn the name "Village Busters". Corporate-militarist hipsters, some are even friends, helped create new superbomb, "swarms of smart bombs" in the marketing line, giant high-explosive laden robot parafoils. Village Busters i call them.
Many Silicon Valley venture folks accept military funding, guilt-ridden (or not) hipsters in sports-cars. Such work was dangled before me if but i opted for a counter-cultural quest to create a liberational kiting ; elegant DIY appropriate technology for kite-energy problem, to help usher in an unexpected golden festive age.
