The Robot Group was long the focus of Austin's famous TechArt scene. Its precursor, Silicon Barrio, specializes in ultra cool educational outreach.. CRASH (Computers, Robotics, and Arts Society of Houston) is a sister organization. All three groups are involved with the ProtoAndroid, an ambitious humanoid robotics project.

Austin's public art scene is dominated by the Austin League of Tejano Artists. JumpStart is the leading arts education outreach group.

Three distinguished newspapers, The Texas Observer, NOKOA-the observer, and La Prensa were assisted onto the Web by Polycosmos in November of 1995.
