Computing from Congress Bridge, Austin, Texas |
Almost all of Austin's sidewalks are now equipped with ramps for disabled access. This has the unintended benefit of easing the solar cart's passage thru the streets. One can stake out a position in a park and conduct business anywhere in the world. I was easily enough able to go on a ten mile loop from the State Capitol to Cambell's Hole above Barton Springs, a range of terrain from deep urban to lite wilderness. I made a start at "personal social service" by hanging out with the homeless and day laborers downtown hoping to assist with family reunification, service referrals, etc.. The curiosity was intense as I tried to explain the Internet aspect of the rig. Someone proposed that folks could drop money into a slot on the cart and it would come out in Mexico, which as a convoluted skam caused us all a big laugh, but the idea is not completely unreasonable, resembling personal ATM and other digital banking innovations. |
