WHOM WE SERVE . . .

River City Youth and Family Builders


  • Minority families (Black & Hispanic) and youth in grades 1-2
  • They live in high risk, poor neighborhoods in federally subsidized housing
  • They are on public assistance (Medicaid, Food Stamps, AFDC)
  • They are single parents


    MANY ARE:

    • Functionally illiterate
    • Youth, 5-17 years, who are at risk
    • Youth whose parents are unemployed
    • Youth who have been arrested or stopped by the police
    • Youth who are below one of more grade levels
    • Youth with one or more family members in the criminal justice system
    • Youth who carry a weapon
    • Youth who are sexually active and at risk of AIDS
